In my transdisciplinary project, Memories From the Future-Video Intallation, I explored a very personal area, addressing themes of cultural heritage and how it carries us through time.
The work includes elements of artificial intelligence, and butoh dance, a powerful and expressive dance, playing a central role, being also a premiere on the Timisoara dance scene. It has allowed me to delve into a language of movement unlike anything I have explored before, and the experience has developed me both as an artist and as a human being.
I like to think of the installation as a kind of contemporary remix, an echo of my work in Remix ID, where I document and reinterpret the traditions of Timisoara's ethnic groups. In Memories From the Future, I was able to showcase a unique form of expression, blending the lived experiences with technology and tradition. It was a real challenge to coordinate this project and find connections between dance and AI, but the emotional impact of the creation was a reward in itself.
The project was included in important events, such as the Researchers' Night at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, due to its experimental nature. It had more than 200 visitors in one night, and in the White Night of Galleries we received direct feedback and open dialog with the public interested in the technical and artistic aspects. I like to think of the installation as a kind of contemporary "remix".
The fact that the project can be accessed online, by demand only, encourages me to take this work further and present it in new spaces, bringing up themes of cultural tolerance and international belonging.
